How to Fix Quicken Error CC-899 (Bank Login Rejected)

CC-899 appears when your bank turns down the sign-in Quicken sends through Express Web Connect — almost always a credential or pending security prompt on the bank's side.

Why CC-899 Happens

  • Password changed on the bank site but not in Quicken
  • A multi-factor or security-question prompt is waiting on the bank site
  • Bank locked the account after repeated failed sign-ins
  • Quicken build is older than the bank's current connection profile
  • Bank migrated to a new online-banking platform
1

Sign in on the bank's website first

Open your bank in a browser and complete any multi-factor prompt, security question, or 'accept updated terms' page. CC-899 is most often the bank refusing Quicken until those are cleared manually.

2

Re-enter your bank credentials in Quicken

Go to Tools → Password Vault → Add or Edit Passwords, delete the saved entry for that bank, then run One Step Update and type the password fresh. A changed or auto-filled password is the second most common cause.

3

Update Quicken to the latest release

Choose Help → Check for Updates and install any pending patch. Express Web Connect aggregator changes ship in Quicken updates, and an old build will keep failing with CC-899.

4

Refresh the account's online details

Open Tools → Account List → Edit → Online Services → Reset Account. This re-downloads the institution profile and re-links the account without deleting your transaction history.

5

Deactivate and reconnect the account

If reset fails, back up your file, then Edit → Online Services → Deactivate for every account at that bank. Close Quicken, reopen, and reconnect with Set Up Now → Link to existing account so no duplicates are created.

How Long Does CC-899 Take to Clear?

If the cause is a stale password or a pending bank prompt, downloads resume on the very next One Step Update. If your bank is mid-migration, the aggregator profile can take 24–72 hours to settle — retry once a day before rebuilding the connection.

Still Seeing CC-899?

A technician can rebuild the online connection, check whether your bank has moved platforms, and re-link accounts without duplicating transactions.
