How to Fix Quicken Error OL-297-A (Institution Disabled)
Quicken Error OL-297-A means the financial institution has been temporarily disabled — usually by Quicken while a bank-side change is being reviewed.
Why OL-297-A Happens
- Quicken paused the institution while a bank endpoint change is verified
- Your Quicken release is behind the current profile
- Duplicate account entries confuse the download
- A branch or credit-union merger changed the institution's ID
Wait 24–48 Hours
OL-297-A often resolves itself when Quicken re-enables the institution after verification. Try again the next day before deeper troubleshooting.
Update Quicken and Refresh the Institution List
Install any pending Quicken update (Help → Check for Updates), then go to Tools → Financial Institution List → Update List to pull the latest profiles.
Deactivate the Affected Accounts
For each account tied to that institution, open Edit → Online Services → Deactivate. Do this for all accounts before re-adding.
Reactivate Under the Correct Institution Name
Some banks change their listed name after mergers. When reactivating, search carefully — the correct entry may be under a new name. Choose Link to existing and match each account.
Try Web Connect as a Bridge
If Quicken still won't reactivate, log into your bank, download a QFX/Web Connect file, and import it manually. This keeps your register current while OL-297-A clears on Quicken's side.
Institution Still Disabled?
If OL-297-A won't clear after 48 hours, it usually needs a profile correction on Quicken's side — something we can request and follow through remotely for you.
